The Dominican Republic’s coffee industry sustains approximately 45,000 Dominican families and is comprised of predominantly smallholder farms. Most of the coffee is grown under the shade of pine, macadamia and guava trees resulting in exceptional quality coffee.

Farmers produce between 350,000-500,000 bags of coffee per year, however, less than 20% of this is exported due to high domestic consumption (almost 3kg per capita). What is exported is praised by coffee connoisseurs around the world.
