Coffee was introduced to Costa Rica in 1779 by Cuban import. The country’s red volcanic soil, high altitudes and consistent rainfall provide optimum conditions for coffee growing. By law only Arabica beans are grown to maintain high standards and today Costa Rica is a leader in sustainably coffee farming processes.
